War Wagons & Military Tactics
During the Hussite Wars, the use of war wagons proved instrumental in the survival of the Hussite armies. These heavily fortified and mobile defensive structures allowed largely peasant infantry to repel the devastating cavalry charges of their better-equipped enemies. The innovation was not only a response to the lack of traditional cavalry but a brilliant adaptation of available resources to overcome technological and tactical disadvantages.
However, times have changed and the introduction of gunpowder, alongside new tactics have changed the playing field. Armies now depend on powerful barrages and agile formations, introducing new factors that we must become aware of. Many of our military theorists support the induction of new offensive techniques in our army, at the expense of traditional defense.
