Hallowed in glory of the ancient world, Constantinople is now ours, and Byzantium is no more. We may now truly claim the title of qayṣar-i Rūm, Caesar of Rome, though all the false claimants to that title may resent it. Little could the Romans of old have foreseen that one day, their legacy would be inherited by a people that came from the lands of their ancient enemies — Iran.
