Too often, the coffee houses where many Burghers gather become haven for traitorous fraternization, and even plots of rebellion, especially among the Janissaries. While the vivid discussions taking place over dark coffee and sweet desserts have been good for commerce and community, it could not hurt to expand our spy network, making sure no secret exchange goes unheard.

The Janissary coffeehouses especially provided a way to connect with undercover networks for assassinations, information, and resources. The government implanted many spies into the coffee houses and similar public institutions, to gain insight into public sentiment and any talks of crime or rebellion.
