The Ransom from Iceland
A while back, corsairs from the Barbary states raided Raid Location on Iceland, a desolate island far out in the Atlantic. They returned to the slave markets of Barbary Location with many fair-skinned captives. But some of the abductees have managed to raise vast sums of money for a ransom, and the Target Country Ruler Title of Target Country has also contributed from his/her personal treasury, asking firmly but politely that we use our influence in Barbary Location to free his/her subjects.

11660historical_info = flavor_tur.145.historical_info After the Twelve Years' Truce in 1609, many Spanish, Dutch, and English sailors found new employment with the Barbary pirates, and taught them how to sail the open ocean. The Barbary pirates subsequently raided into the Atlantic, and several times attacked Madeira, Ireland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands. But many of the Icelandic captives that were brought to Algiers after large slave raids in 1627 were eventually ransomed. A priest named Ólafur Egilsson was set free by his captors in order to do fundraising for such ransoms, and later on, the Danish king also intervened.
