The Wrath of the Janissaries
While Ambitious Ruler tried to enact his/her radical reforms, he/she also managed to insult the Janissaries, calling them cowards. Enraged, and fearful that he/she will try to abolish their corps next, they have found many allies in the Court Title and the harem, and are out for blood. Unless we are prepared to risk civil war, the life of the Ruler Title seems to be forfeit.

But the Janissaries conspired with Halime Sultan, the mother of the previous ruler, Mustafa the Mad, and had Osman imprisoned and killed. The mentally unstable Mustafa then took the throne again.
