3093historical_info = flavor_rus.33.historical_info Russian statesman and ethnographer Vasily Tatishcev graduated from the Engineering school in Moscow and participated in the Great Northern War against Sweden. He became an important figure in the Foreign Office during the reign of Peter 'the Great' and later backed the ascension of Anna of Russia in opposition to the Supreme Privy Council. He authored several historiographic works, including one of the earliest full-scale works on Russian history.
