However, with the Personal Union over Lithuania, the situation began to change as the city of Warsaw began to gain prominence. In 1569 it was decided that Warsaw would be the location for the Sejm meetings and 4 years later it was decided it would be there that the royal elections would take place. Since then, the city would continue to gain the upper hand over the city of Kraków where the coronations would still take place.
