1158historical_info = flavor_plc.17.historical_info Khmelnytsky's Uprising was one of many cossack uprisings in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth but by far the most successful. It began on January 25th 1648 with the assault on royal guards at the Zaporozhian Sich. The revolt would last 9 years until the death of Bohdan Khmelnytsky. After his death, the Sich started negotiations with the Commonwealth leading to the Treaty of Hadiach.
