The Scuola Medica Salernitana, the first of its kind, is not what it used to be. What once was the reference for scholars all over has now lost prominence in favor of other institutions and has almost fallen into obscurity. And with it, future generations of trained medici that could have saved hundreds of lives. Perhaps we should devote resources to build it up again.
