Seeking to draw a line between Gokenin, Our Ruler has laid the foundation to institutionalize his/her most loyal followers as belonging to the Hatamoto class. While functionally similar to the Gokenin of the past centuries, those who are Hatamoto can personally request an audience with Our Ruler, a special privilege previously only given to very few.
