8523historical_info = flavor_hab.1608.historical_info The Confessio Bohemica was accepted by Emperor Maximilian II in May 1575, in order to secure the inheritance of his designated heir, Rudolf II. The Confession was drafted by the non-Catholic estates of Bohemia, to secure their legal status under Habsburg rule. Maximilian II did accept the confession as the legal basis but he did not sign it and it was only granted in the main Bohemian lands, and not Silesia or Lusatia. The signature of the Letter of Majesty by Rudolf II in 1609 confirmed these rights to the Bohemian estates.
