The Reconquest of the Eastern Aegean
The island of Chíos was home to the Lordship of Chios, which was subject to the Country from 1304 until its fall in 1329. The crumbling Byzantium reclaimed the island for themselves once again in 1329 after the local Zaccaria family antagonized the local Greek population. Ever since, our presence in the eastern Aegean has dwindled to nothing, until a new civil war wracked the Greeks.
As their government was occupied with their infighting, the cunning members of the Maona of Chios and Phocaea have secured Chíos and its neighboring islands from the Greeks. The eastern Aegean has returned to Country Adjective hands.
