The Affairs of Italy
With our conflict with England resolved, there has been a renewed approach to our southern borders along the Alps. While the royal court has in the past had contact with several Italian states and families of Italy, the ability to maintain a cohesive relationship with the region has been limited during our conflict with the English. Various advisors and courtiers have suggested to Fra Ruler that France should seek to grow its influence in the region, as while Italy is home to varying different states, they have the potential to be powerful political allies. There are also those in the court that suggest we take a more domineering approach, and seek to forcefully bring our Italian neighbors under the wing of France.
