Recent global affairs have led to the treasury of France becoming financially strained. Minister from the cabinet has put forth the idea of minting new coins to combat these financial woes, giving them the name of 'the Franc'. In the Battle of Poitiers, Jean II was captured in battle by the Black Prince. After a series of negotiations, Jean II along with other prisoners would be ransomed in return for financial compensation. Upon his return, Jean II issued an Ordonnance for the creation of the 'Franc' gold coin to pay for the ransoms, lasting from 1360 until 1380. The Franc would be reissued in later centuries and became the national currency of France in 1795.
