To the North-West of our country, the Soninke settle the lands, founders of the long-gone Empire of Ghana. Even if diminished in their power and influence, they are still proud people, and the weakening of our power has not been unnoticed by them. One of their leaders, Diawara Ruler, has achieved to unify his/her people, defying our rule in the region.
