Ever since the Reformation took ahold of the Holy Roman Empire, the religious peace has been unstable, if not outright broken by the princes. The situation has now reached a breaking point, and both Catholic and reformed countries started to form factions for the sake of defending their faith. The increasing confessionalization of the imperial princes is a concerning development, which could radicalize their positions fairly quickly. In these times of mistrust and worry, it seems impossible that a confrontation of both sides can be avoided.
