Given its great influence over the politics of our country, it would be easy to assume that all Parliament members attended parliamentary sessions with great enthusiasm, eager to do the most they can with the power that they have been entrusted with. This is, however, far from the case. In any given Parliament, there will be some that never show up, either because they are still enjoying their estates in the countryside or because they decided to partake in the many joys of the capital. The problem has grown more and more lately, and we fear that foreign dignitaries are laughing at us behind our backs. We could fine those who are absent during the debates to increase attendance, but of course these members of the Parliament would not take very kindly to that.
