The Emanation of the One
A circle of scholars and philosophers of the Platonic Revival have begun to teach that the highest truth lies not in scripture but in reason: all existence flows from the One, through emanations of divine intellect, down into our material world.
Drawing on Plato, Plotinus, and Proclus, these thinkers are careful to note the parallels with Christianity. The One, they say, is not so different from God: eternal, beyond all predication, the source of all being.
Yet the Clergy grow wary, decrying it as base Hellenist paganism.
Will we permit this philosophical revival to flourish, or move to extinguish it?
