One suggests that they were shepherds, where a Brahman said to Bukka that one day he would be Emperor of all Bharatwarsh. The other theory states that both Harihara and Bukka were commanders under the Kākatīya, and after a crushing defeat under Muḥammad ibn Ṭughlāq, they were sent to Delhi where they converted to Islam. After their escape, and under the guidance of the sage Vidyāraṇya, they found the Vijayanagara Empire.
