The Arabic Salons
With the increased number of Arabic speakers in our realm, our native scholars have run into difficulties trying to participate in the salons held in Arabic cities. These salons have long been important for intellectual discourse, but apparently Turkish scholars struggle with speaking the type of formal Arabic that is required to be accepted in that milieu. The scholars now complain that this has caused them embarrassment.
