Yet in that time, it managed to break the mighty Theodosians walls of Constantinople, bringing an end to the Roman Empire after 1500 years. Undeterred by neither cost nor explosive accidents, the Ottomans soon built another cannon of similar scale, the Dardanelles Gun, that was fired at the British navy as late as 1807.
