Courting the Dervishes
Ottoman gained legitimacy by marrying Rabia Bala, the daughter of the leader of a community of dervishes at the eastern frontier. These religious mystics retain a strong influence in our fledgling Flavor Rank, but now they are asking us to reaffirm our patronage, and will in turn provide both political and military counsel on behalf of the Target school school. The more conservative parts of the Clergy, however, take issue with the dervishes' focus on esoteric ritual rather than scholarship, and would prefer that we do not get even more beholden to them...
