The War for Target Province
A convoy of ships carrying important pilgrims to Mecca has suffered a dastardly attack from pirates. Among the slain were a former chief eunuch, the Qāḍī of Cairo, and the nurse of the Ruler Title himself/herself. Afterwards, the pirates docked in a port close to Candia on Target Province. This island has long been a thorn in our side, and factions at Court Title are now calling for war with Target Country. But Objecting Vizier is vehemently opposed, saying it would hurt our finances tremendously.

When the Knights of Malta attacked ships carrying important pilgrims, and later unloaded some of their captives as slaves on Crete, this provided the Ottomans a perfect pretext for war with Venice. But this war would become a very long and very costly affair, proving the grand vizier Semiz Mehmed Pasha right when he objected to it, against the powerful hawkish factions at court.
