126historical_info = flavor_plc.2.historical_info Naval Commission or Komisja Morska was an institution created on 24th of March 1568 by King Sigismund II August. Based in Danzig, it was the first Polish Admiralty and as such its purpose was to manage a flotilla of privateers, ensure discipline in the sailor ranks, and to give commands to navies. It was relatively short-lived, lasting only until 1572, but the concept would later be utilized again in 1626, when the 'Commission of Royal Ships' or Komisja Okrętów Królewskich was created.
