The Roaming Routiers
With a truce reached between France and England, free companies that were employed on both sides have taken to pillaging smaller settlements between the borders. Some of these Routiers under Target Character have even taken to establishing a small base of operations in some of these provinces, styling themselves as barons in their own right. While it is the duty of the crown to defend its territories, the war with England has left it financially and militarily strained that taking arms once again runs the risk of exacerbating the issue further.
