The Medici Oriental Press
The Medici Oriental Press is a printing house established by the di Medici family. It has the objective of printing Christian works in Arabic, in the hopes of converting Muslims, and has been granted a monopoly by the Pope to print books in 'foreign languages.'
The press has published some of the earliest printed works in Arabic, and has come to include multiple non-religious works. Scientific works in Arabic have been printed for circulation among European scientists, along with ancient Greek works that had only survived in its Arabic translation.
