1949historical_info = flavor_por.29.historical_info 1496年12月5日、ポルトガル王マヌエル1世は、スペインのカトリック両王からの圧力により、王女イサベルとの結婚の条件として、全ユダヤ人の追放または改宗を命じた。当初は追放を目的とした2つの布告が出されたが、1497年には強制改宗へと変わった。ポルトガルのユダヤ人は強制的に洗礼を受けさせられ、抵抗した者はサントメ・プリンシペに追放された。1506年にはリスボンで虐殺が起こり、1536年にはポルトガル異端審問所が設立されるなど、ポルトガルのコンベルソたちは宗教的迫害の激動の時代特有の苦難に直面した。
