1949historical_info = flavor_por.29.historical_info 1496년 12월 5일, 스페인의 가톨릭 군주로부터 압력을 받은 포르투갈 국왕 마누엘 1세는 모든 유대인에게 가톨릭으로 개종하지 않으면 추방당할 것이라는 칙령을 선포했습니다. 이는 이사벨라 공주와의 혼인을 위한 조건이기도 했습니다. 두 차례에 걸쳐 칙령이 반포되었는데, 처음 칙령은 추방을 내용으로 했지만 1497년에 반포된 두 번째 칙령은 강제 개종을 규정하고 있었습니다. 포르투갈 유대인들을 상대로 강제로 세례가 실시되었고, 저항하는 자들은 상투메섬과 프린시페섬으로 추방되었습니다. 포르투갈 개종자들은 1506년의 리스본 대학살과 1536년의 포르투갈 이단 심문소 창설 등 여러 고초를 겪으며 종교적 박해의 격동기를 지냈습니다.
